שאלות תשובות- לימודי קעקועים

If you’ve ever thought about starting a career in tattooing, or perhaps you’ve been interested in a tattoo course or tattoo studies and the field intrigues you, then the following content might be suitable for you.

In recent years, the tattoo industry has gained momentum in Israel. More and more art lovers are learning about and becoming interested in tattooing.

In the past, tattoos were considered by many to be a mark of criminals and crime. However, today, tattoos have become much more popular in society. More people have tattoos, and you can see tattooed individuals in the cultural world and even people in serious professions, such as pilots, lawyers, judges, etc.

Tattoos have become a much more accepted part of society. With the high demand for tattoos, we encounter many questions. This article was created to bring a bit of order to the subject.

If you have a true love for drawing, then the field of tattooing could be right for you.

Tattooing is a profession that demands persistence and mental strength to learn and grow. Only those who genuinely love drawing and are ready to commit to the process find the right strength to succeed and constantly advance and develop in the field. Someone who doesn’t truly love this field will likely get bored at some point and probably quit.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I live and breathe art?
  • Do I want to draw every day?
  • Is this the profession I’d want to do for the rest of my life?

If the answer is yes, then you’re likely a good fit!

As mentioned, tattooing is a profession that demands dedication, professional equipment, and persistence. You need to practice a lot and commit to the craft.

Tattooing isn’t something you can do “on the side.” You really need to live and breathe the field. In our experience, people who don’t fully immerse themselves in the profession quickly find themselves out of it.

Tattooing is drawing. If a painter uses pencils, brushes, etc., then a tattoo artist’s drawing tools are needles.

Therefore, anyone who wants to learn tattooing must love art and enjoy drawing. If you don’t know how to draw, you must learn before approaching tattoo studies. You’ll need to build at least a basic portfolio, and only then proceed to tattoo studies.

Drawing is the ABC of tattooing. Anyone who skips this stage will struggle to find a reputable institution willing to teach them. Even if they do, they’ll discover they need to complete the drawing stage before they can progress and develop further.

The correct order is first drawing studies, and only then tattoo studies.

The more, the better.

You don’t necessarily need professional or academic drawing knowledge, but it’s essential that anyone studying feels comfortable with drawing and knows how to create things.

Of course, we recommend learning as much as possible throughout your journey because learning in the field of art is endless. However, to begin tattoo studies, as we explained, you need basic drawing knowledge.

The law states that it’s permissible to tattoo people from the age of 16. However, our recommendation is to finish your studies, military service, and any other commitments first. Only then should you begin learning to tattoo, so there won’t be anything to distract you.

In the meantime, use that time to improve your drawing skills!

There isn’t a fixed curriculum everywhere. Each place has its own way and method of teaching and conveying the material. When you’re inquiring about tattoo studies, what’s important is to understand if the curriculum is relevant for you and your needs.
Today, there are silicone practice skins of various qualities for tattoo training. Some mimic real skin more closely than others. You can also practice tattooing on certain fruits.

When choosing a tattoo instructor, it’s important to pay attention to a few things.

First and foremost, make sure you connect with the instructor and can understand them on a personal level.

After that, check that you like their work style. It’s crucial to feel like you have good chemistry with them.

Some courses do provide certificates of completion. However, it’s important to know that there is no official body in Israel that issues formal certificates for tattoo artists.

This profession is unregulated, so a certificate holds no significant legal meaning, beyond it being a nice keepsake from the studio where you studied.

The most important thing for starting work in a studio or attracting private clients is to build a rich portfolio that showcases your abilities.

A good course will teach you all the steps leading up to the tattoo [from setting up a clean workstation, knowledge of sterility, sketch planning, client approach, execution, and healing]. A good course will teach you to work with various techniques, and you’ll perform tattoos using different methods. This way, you can leave the course with a portfolio and full knowledge of how to be independent within the field.

It’s important to connect with the work style of the tattoo artists at the studio, to connect with their teaching method, the course topics, and their energy. Simply feel that this is the place from which you want to draw inspiration in all aspects. If you have willpower, persistence, and a good teacher you trust, there’s no reason in the world you won’t succeed!

Good luck!

Tattoo Course Price: How to Choose the Perfect Course for You?

If you want to enter the world of tattooing professionally, choosing a quality tattoo artist course is an essential step on your path to success. One of the central questions that concern those interested in the field is: How much does a tattoo artist course cost? In the following article, we will try to answer that question for you. Price analysis and comparisons between different courses are an important part of the process, and it’s crucial to understand what you get in return for your financial investment.

What Influences the Price of a Tattoo Course?

  1. Curriculum and Course Scope: The more comprehensive and in-depth the course, the higher its price may be. Courses that include a rich syllabus covering all the necessary knowledge areas for a beginner tattoo artist, such as tattoo history, cross-contamination, sterilization, dermatology, business management, drawing and illustration, photography and content editing, and more, will generally cost more than basic courses offering only fundamental knowledge.

Experience and Professionalism of the Lecturers: Lecturers with extensive experience and seniority in the field can add significant value to the course and provide students with the most important practical knowledge. Courses taught by renowned and reputable artists will often be more expensive due to the knowledge and experience they bring.

Infrastructure, Equipment, and Location: Courses held in recognized institutions equipped with advanced equipment will cost more than courses held in simple workshops. Some courses include complete equipment for students, ranging from needles, inks, tattoo machines, and other tattoo artist equipment, as well as licenses for digital products like Procreate or Photoshop, so that students can experiment with all the techniques and tools required in the field. All of these factors can also influence the price of the tattoo course.

Practical Training and Portfolio Creation: If the course includes practical training on models and portfolio creation under the personal guidance of instructors, this is another factor that can influence the price. Tattoo students at the beginning of their journey require guidance and direction, especially with their first tattoos. Practical training is crucial for a tattoo artist’s success, and it’s worthwhile to invest in a course that offers it.

Tattoo Course Price Range – What You Should Know?

The prices of tattoo artist courses can vary significantly, depending on the parameters we mentioned.

On average, basic courses may cost between 5,000 and 10,000 ILS. These courses will often serve more as supplementary training for artists or tattoo artists who need reinforcement in specific areas.

More comprehensive and professional courses can reach 30,000 ILS and above. The price may also include certification diplomas, professional insurance guidance, study materials, and additional workshops such as first aid workshops, legal advice, business management, business opening, marketing, drawing, and many other areas important for tattoo artists at the beginning of their careers.

Make sure you understand the long-term value you'll receive.

Investing in a tattoo course is not just a financial investment, but also an investment in time and effort. It’s important to check what the course offers and compare the different programs. For example, a course that offers a combination of theory and practice, close guidance, and practical training, including the creation of a comprehensive portfolio, will be worth the investment in the long run.

Investing in a good, high-quality tattoo course will provide you with value not only in the short term. The long-term value you receive can save you valuable time and money and help you develop healthy and correct habits for tattoo artists. Additional things you should pay attention to when choosing a course:

  • If those who enroll in the course will be entitled to long-term benefits
  • What is the value of the equipment you receive
  • How many study hours are in the course
  • How many sessions the course has
  • What workshops are included in the course

All the information you receive embodies the price of the course, but if you want to learn professionally and comprehensively, you need to know all these things to become the best tattoo artist.

How to Choose the Most Suitable Tattoo Course for You?

Before choosing a course, it’s worth asking yourself a few questions:

  •
  • What is my experience level in the field? If you are a beginner, you might want to start with a more basic course or build a portfolio and progress later.
  • What is my budget? Set a budget according to your financial ability, and view the course as a long-term investment.
  • What certificate or qualification do I want to receive? Ensure the course qualifies you and provides students with a certificate of completion.
  • What is the level of guidance and practice in the course? Ensure the course provides practical training and that instructors are available for questions and guidance throughout the process, and afterwards.

Bottom Line:

The question of “how much does a tattoo course cost” is only part of the equation when choosing a suitable course. It’s important to consider all accompanying factors, such as the quality and experience of the instructors, the course content, the amount of practical training, and what you will learn during the course. Price comparison is an important step, but ultimately, it’s crucial to choose a course that will provide you with the best tools for success in the field.

Whether you’re interested in a basic course or a professional and in-depth one, it’s important to remember that the investment in a quality course will pay for itself very quickly.

Should You Invest in a Professional Tattoo Course or Learn on Your Own?

In recent years, the world of tattooing has become one of the most popular and rapidly developing body arts. Many are drawn to this art as a career and seek to specialize in it. One of the common questions that accompanies the beginning of this journey is whether to invest in a professional tattoo course or try to learn the field on your own. The answer depends on many factors, such as the goal of the person who wants to learn (do they want to work professionally as a tattoo artist?) and the person’s character. Some people can learn independently and find it suits them better, while others prefer the guidance and proper direction of professionals. In this article, we will review the advantages and disadvantages of both options and examine the right path for you.

האם כדאי להשקיע בקורס קעקועים

Learning Tattooing Independently – Freedom, but with Risks

Advantages:

    1. Relatively Low Cost – Self-study saves the cost of professional courses, which can amount to thousands of shekels or more. You can purchase basic equipment and work at home without additional commitments.
    2. Flexible Schedule – Those who study independently can control their learning pace, study at convenient hours, and try different techniques personally and privately.
    3. Complete Creative Freedom – Self-study allows you to explore your artistic style without limitations or specific guidance, and work precisely according to your personal vision.
    4.

Disadvantages:

  • No Guidance or Help – Tattooing requires a deep understanding of work techniques, sterilization, skin knowledge, skin types and their reactions, and professional equipment. Without professional guidance, it’s easy to make mistakes that can harm the quality of the work or the client’s health.
  • Lack of Professional Feedback – One of the biggest advantages of a course is the opportunity to receive professional critique from experienced lecturers and tattoo artists. Self-study leaves you without external feedback on your work.
  • Networking and Entering the Field – Professional courses offer an opportunity to create important connections in the industry. Without a structured framework, it’s harder to connect with experts in the field or receive professional support.

Professional Tattoo Course – A Long-Term Investment

Advantages:

    1. Professional Guidance – A tattoo course provides you with all the technical and practical knowledge required in the field, from understanding equipment to mastering complex techniques. It’s a structured path that thoroughly prepares you for all professional challenges.
    2. Practical Experience in a Safe Environment – During the course, students practice a variety of techniques on synthetic skins or models, under the close supervision of professionals who ensure that the work is done correctly and safely.
    3. Learning About Hygiene and Sterilization – One of the most important aspects of tattooing is hygiene. A professional course will teach you how to maintain client health, instrument sterility, and work under safe and controlled conditions.
    4. Building a Professional Portfolio – During the course, you can work on building a portfolio that will document your development as an artist. This portfolio will make it easier for you to attract clients and get hired for jobs in professional studios after completing your studies.
    5. Professional Certificate – A professional course usually provides a certificate that you can use as an official document to prove the education you’ve acquired.
    6. Connection to the Tattoo Community – Course frameworks allow for networking with experienced tattoo artists and other students, which can open doors later in your career

Disadvantages:

    1. Requires a Budget – One of the prominent disadvantages is the price of professional courses, which can sometimes be high and strain the budget. However, it’s important to remember that this is a long-term investment.
    2. Structured Schedule – Professional courses take place within a defined framework, so those who cannot commit their time may find this a disadvantage.
    3.

What's Better – A Tattoo Course or Learning Independently?

The choice between a professional course and self-study largely depends on your personal goals. If you aim to develop a professional career in tattooing, a professional course is a worthwhile investment that will thoroughly prepare you for safe and successful work. The course will provide you with the knowledge, tools, and experience that will enable you to tackle the various challenges of the field and become a skilled and professional tattoo artist.

On the other hand, if your goal is to learn the field as a hobby or to get a basic understanding of the world of tattooing, self-study might be sufficient. However, it’s important to remember that it involves risk, especially concerning safety and sterilization. It’s recommended to consider starting with self-study on synthetic skins and only then moving on to professional studies if the field interests you more deeply.

מה עדיף קורס קעקועים או ללמוד לבד

Bottom Line

The decision of whether to invest in a professional tattoo course or learn independently depends on your personal goals and available resources. A professional course provides a safe and comprehensive path to success, including access to tools and knowledge that cannot be obtained through self-study. Conversely, self-study offers freedom and flexibility, but requires dealing with additional challenges without professional support. In both cases, persistence, practice, and a deep understanding of the field are key to success in the art of tattooing.

A Little About Us

קונטרסט סטודיו לקעקועים

The studio was founded and is owned by Liav Kakon and Tehila Atzmon. Liav began his professional journey in 2005, driven by an immense passion for drawing and art. After years of contemplating how he could realize his abilities and art, Liav traveled to the East where he met a local tattoo artist who taught him the secrets of the trade.

He then returned to Israel and continued to learn tattooing and develop his drawing skills. In 2007, Liav began working in prominent studios in Israel, and in 2008, he first opened his independent business, “Kakon Art.” Liav specializes in realistic portraits with his unique touch, expressed in his works, which are characterized by a delicate and soft style.

After some time and accumulating a client base, Liav met Tehilah, his partner in life and business. He invested time and taught her all the knowledge he had acquired over the years. Tehilah, whose great affinity for art is above all else, decided to leave everything and focus on a creative life—dedicating herself 100% to tattoo studies. Over time, Tehilah became a precise and sought-after tattoo artist and now has a large client base. Tehilah’s works are characterized by a colorful cartoon style, with many cheerful colors, thin lines, and more.

In 2024, they first opened their online tattoo equipment store, which centralizes everything a tattoo artist needs directly from the supplier to the consumer. The products displayed in the store are selected items such as: stencil printers, tattoo machines, and other tattoo artist equipment.
